Viking tunic with herringbone pattern made of cotton, brown
This Viking tunic is elaborately made of cotton with a herringbone pattern. The neckline has a slit, which can be closed with a brooch or simply worn open. It has been cut straight and slit on the left and right side for better freedom of movement.
The cut and the appearance are associated with the early Middle Ages in Northern Europe. Knee-length upper garments were especially popular for this time, which had a rather uncomplicated cut and a simple finish.
Archaeological finds of the composite cuts as well as for fabrics with a herringbone pattern were found in Bernuthsfeld (8th century), Thorsberg (4th century), Haithabu and Birka.
