Viking helmet or Gjermundbu helmet made of 2mm thick steel, with butted aventail - battle ready
This Viking helmet or Gjermundbu helmet follows an original found. The original is dated 970 AD and is now on display at the Museum of National Atiquities (Oldsaksamlinga) in Oslo.
The helmet and especially its buckles also show the close relationship to the helmet group of the so-called Noridian comb helmets.
His helmet bell consists of 2 parts of 2mm strong steel, which was driven and cleanly welded. The tip of the helmet can be easily removed by unscrewing.
For reinforcement 4 iron bands were attached to the helmet bell.
The handmade glasses from alsoalls 2mm strong steel were riveted.
The goggles were also provided with the same chisel notches, which the original has.
It also has a riveted, very high quality, adjustable padding inlet and a robust leather chinstrap with brass buckle.
The chain brooch was worked from throughout riveted rings, which were closed by means of round rivets.
