German kidney dagger with leather sheath, 15th century
This kidney dagger was made after an original of the 15th century from Germany. Because of its shape it is often called a bollock/ballock dagger. The unsharpened blade was made of steel and tapers to the tip, which is sharp. The handle was made from a single piece of wood. The flat knob was decorated with a decorative brass plate.
The scabbard was made of hand dyed, vegetable tanned leather, which ends with a brass Ortband.
