Chainmail shirt or Haubergeon made of riveted and punched rings, Ø 6 mm
This chainmail shirt or Haubergeon consists of 2 types of rings. One row was made of riveted flat rings, the next of punched flat rings. Also in the Middle Ages chain skirts, chain shirts etc. were made in this way, because it was not so time-consuming and still is.
This made it possible then as now to use rings made of steel with a thickness of only 1mm without losing their strength. Through this a weight reduction of 30-35% is achieved.
The name "Haubergeon" is given to this chainmail shirt, because it is a half to short sleeved chainmail shirt, which reaches straight to the thigh.
