This chainmail leg protection was made of round rings, which were closed by means of round rivets. The braiding is 4 in 1 and can be individually attached, e.g. with wire, nests or leather cords and/or with leather straps.
Another fastening possibility is to sew them onto an existing (leather) pair of trousers.
Especially in the late Middle Ages, chainmail leg protection were used as additional protection under plate armour, so that exposed areas were protected.
