Byzantine helmet made of 2mm thick steel, battle ready
This Byzantine helmet is a reproduction from the 10th century.
The helmet calotte was formed from seven steel clasps riveted together and concentrically forged. To fix the helmet, a leather inlay and a chinstrap made of leather was riveted on, which is adjustable in size.
In addition, a brass point was attached to which hair or feathers can be fastened.
Helmets of this kind were often worn in the Middle Ages in connection with a chain hood or chain brooch.
