Late medieval square chain mail 20 x 20 cm made of riveted rings
This chain mesh or chain piece is perfect for repairing, extending or making a chain mail etc.
This braid was made of two different types of rings. The braiding is a variation of the European flat ring braid.
One row was made from riveted rings, the next row from punched rings. This saved a lot of work, because only every second ring had to be riveted.
They were riveted with wedge rivets (triangular rivets), which only appeared in the late Middle Ages. This wickerwork is therefore suitable for representing the late Middle Ages.
