Viking cotton winningas
Winningas like these have been used since the Viking Age (2nd/3rd century) and continued through the Middle Ages into modern times. They were first used as socks and to fasten trousers to the calves. They also provided warmth and protection against injuries. Later in the Middle Ages, calf wraps were used for visual reasons, for example as part of traditional costume.
Our winningas are made of 100% cotton of high quality. The robust fabric is made in a herringbone pattern and changes colour between white and blue.
The winningas can be attached to the calf with a cord or with calf wrap hooks.
