Viking slip dress Tinna, green
This monochrome slip dress is made of sturdy canvas (100% cotton) and therefore very robust. It is kept simple, has a loose, calf-length fit and is closed by means of lacing.
Strap dresses were an integral part of the Vikings. The Viking-era strap dress (also known as a strap skirt, hanging skirt, or smock skirt) had two distinct functions. While the plain version was worn like an apron to protect the garment, the decorated version was more of a status symbol and was adorned with braids, embroidery, chains, and shell brooches. This dress form is historically documented by finds from Haithabu and representations from Birka.
