This dress is inspired by early medieval cuts. It was sewn from strong canvas fabric in linen-look. The highlights of this dress are the color composition in combination with the embroideries. The slit neckline is worn open or closed with a fibula. The front and back are made of rectangular panels of fabric, with so-called geren (wedges) inserted in the middle and sides to give the hem sufficient width. A gusset (rectangular piece of fabric) is inserted under the arm. The cut of the gown is based on archaeological finds dated to the 9th and 10th centuries. Typical for this period are long dresses with cuts that were mainly composed of rectangles and triangles in order to use as little fabric as possible. In Skjoldehamn, Birka and Haithabu fragments have been found where the cuts are clearly visible.
How to find the right size: To determine your size based on your body measurements, please measure horizontally at the strongest point. For tops please orientate yourself on your chest measurement. If you are between two sizes, we recommend that you choose the larger size. Comfort additions are included in the cut. Please keep in mind that cotton fabrics are not very elastic.
