Viking brooch (trefoil brooch) in Oseberg style
This beautiful trefoil brooch was created after an original from the Norwegian Kaupang. The Oseberg style is clearly recognizable, which is characterized by the typical prehensile animals.
On the back a stable needle, as well as an eyelet, for the attachment of chains or the like, was attached. Also thicker fabrics can be closed with this clasp.
The Oseberg style is a Viking Age art style in Scandinavia. It was mainly present from the 8th century to the middle of the 9th century. Very typical for this style are the artistic animal motifs, which are intertwined in a curvy way. Also human motives, plants and geometrical forms were typical for this style.
