Vendel period buckle helmet with chainmail (not riveted, made of spring steel, Ø 8mm) - battle ready!
This vendel period buckle helmet was made especially for the show fight. The helmet calotte consists of 2 sheet metal parts, which are 1.6 mm thick and were welded together. For additional hold and strength, the sheet metal bands, which were crossed and riveted around the end of the helmet.
The handcrafted goggles were also riveted to the helmet and reach far under the nose.
The attached chain well consists of unriveted spring steel rings (Ø 8 mm), which was attached to the edge of the helmet.
For a firm and pleasant wearing comfort a padded leather inlet, a robust leather strap and a buckle for individual closing was attached.
It is suitable for the representation from approx. 550 AD up to the Viking Age (end of 1066).
From the Vendel period, an epoch which preceded the Viking Age, numerous artifacts, jewellery, weapons and armour parts have been preserved. Well known are the helmet finds from Valsgärde, on which our reconstruction suitable for combat is based.
