This headgear, also called coiffe or coif, is made of light cotton fabric and lies lightly on the head.
As early as the 12th century, there are references to bundhauben in illustrations from that period. In the European Middle Ages, wearing a head covering was obligatory and bundhauben were worn by people of all classes - from children to adults. Warriors went a step further and wore a padded form under their chain hood or helmet for additional protection from injury.
This simple medieval waistband hood is well suited for larp, medieval markets or reenactment.
