Wood reacts in combination with soap by turning a little gray. In this process, color pigments are released from the wood and the wood becomes slightly lighter. This process of "graying out" takes place within the first few days of use. Specifically, the wood adjusts its PH to the alkaline soap. During this process, dyes are released from the wood and pass into the dripping water and also into the soap stored on it. The result is brown stains on the soap surface and brown dripping water in the sink. However, do not worry, this water can be washed off clearly and it is not an added color but a 100% natural product. Graying is inevitable when wood is used as a soap dish. We recommend that you wash the soap dish with soap before using it for the first time, so that this process is started immediately, and then drain the dish on a paper towel so that most of the dye can escape during the first washing. After 1-2 days the process is complete and no more color pigment escapes from the wood.
