Medieval children's tunic Lucas for children, Mi-Parti, red / black

This children's tunic is made of sturdy cotton fabric, calf-length, straight cut and slit at the sides to the waist. Front and back are each also provided with a central, slightly shorter slit.

The tunic (also called armor) appeared in the 12th century and was worn by knights over the armor or chain armor to protect from the sun's rays. In addition, the different colorings made it possible to distinguish friend from foe in the thick of battle.
Mi-Parti refers to the colored (usually bicolored) division of clothing, as it was popularly worn in the Middle Ages. Depictions of armor divided into two colors can be found, for example, in the Stuttgart Psalter and in the Morgan M.804 Chroniques. In general, there are numerous pictorial representations of medieval tunics, e.g. in the Maciejowski Bible (also Crusader Bible), a medieval picture Bible from the 13th century, and in the Codex Manesse, a song manuscript from the early 14th century.
