High medieval Gorget made of 1.6 mm thick steel
This beautiful Gorget is a reconstruction of a 13th century French Gorget.
The original is now kept in the Louvre in Paris. It has been described in detail by Sir Guy Francis Lakingin in his book "A record of European Armours and Arms through Seven Centuries".
It was made of 1.6 mm steel, which consists of 2 parts.
Back and chest part were riveted together on the left side, on the right side they were fastened together with a leather strap. The strap has a buckle, with which you can easily adjust the size of the collar.
