It is dated to the 9th century there. Furthermore a very similar shoe type was find in Haithabu, a german early medieval trading center.

We recommend these shoes for reenactment of 9th-11th century, depending on the portrayal.

Almost indistinguishable from a turn-sewed shoe, but much more stable in construction as it features a thick sole which is nailed to the top leather.

The sole consists of two pieces of sole leather. The first sole is nailed with hob nails additionally to make a better grip on grassland and extend lifetime of the shoe.

But medieval coloring meant that the color soaks into the leather and you still see the natural surface texture afterwards. Even if our color has synthetic paint pigments, it exactly does that. It soaks into the leather and gives you this beautiful look as shown in the pictures. Every pair of shoes is unique due to the fact that the pores in the leather soak differently. Due to our manufacturing you get this antique look and a truly highlight for your medieval garb.
