Cow mouth shoe with doubled welt-sewn outer sole.

The shoe is made of sturdy, smooth leather.

Attention: The shoes sizes tend to be small. We recommend ordering them shoesize +1 or +2 when you have wide feet.

Shoes of this type were worn from the end of the 15th until the end of the 16th century. The so called renaissance, which was a fancy kind of fashion period. It was inspired by the landsknecht. Effortful tailored colorful clothes met cow mouth shoes like these.

We color the shoes with oil dye on an alcohol base which is a very good solution for a medieval look. Most offered shoes in this price category are painted with colors on acryl base which is a covering color. But medieval coloring meant that the color soaks into the leather and you still see the natural surface texture afterwards. Even if our color has synthetic paint pigments, it exactly does that. It soaks into the leather and gives you this beautiful look as shown in the pictures. Every pair of shoes is unique due to the fact that the pores in the leather soak differently. Due to our manufacturing you get this antique look and a truly highlight for your medieval garb.

The name Korduan red comes from medieval times. Cordoba was the central for red leather in the middle ages for a long time and most of the red leathers came from there.
