Chainmail collar made of riveted and punched rings, Ø 6mm
This chainmail collar (or bishop collar) consists of 2 types of rings. One row was made from riveted rings, the next from punched rings. At the neck 2 size-adjustable leather straps were riveted, which make it easier to put on and take off.
Also in the Middle Ages chain skirts, chain mail etc. were made in this way, because it was not so time-consuming.
Therefore it is possible to use rings made of steel with only 1mm material thickness without losing their strength. Through this a weight reduction of 30-35% is achieved.
It should serve to protect the neck, shoulders, upper chest and back. It was already popular in the 15-16th century.
