chainmail aventail made of riveted (round rivet heads), round rings, Ø 8 mm
This chainmail aventail was made of round rings, which were closed by means of round rivet heads.
Every single ring was riveted by hand. The braiding is 4 in 1.
In the Middle Ages, chainmail aventail fountains were attached to helmets such as nose helmets or, above all, to late medieval pelvic bonnets. They were worn as additional neck and shoulder protection.
The rim was made of thick cowhide, which was sewn to the chain mesh. The fastening holes for the helmet must be made by the customer himself.
