chainmail aventail made of riveted (round rivets) flat rings, 8 mm
This chainmail aventail was made of flat chain rings throughout, which were closed by means of round rivets.
The weave is 4 in 1.
In the Middle Ages, chainmail aventail fountains were attached to helmets, such as nose-type helmets, or, above all, to late medieval pelvic caps. They were worn as additional neck and shoulder protection.
The rim was made of thick cowhide, which was sewn to the chain mesh. The fastening holes for the helmet must be made by the customer himself.
