This aquamanile was made according to an original, which comes from Rhineland and in the European area increasingly appeared from the 12th century. It is made of built-up ceramics and was made by hand on the potter's wheel.
It is a so-called stoneware, i.e. it is sintered by high firing temperatures. This makes the Aquamanile waterproof and food safe.
