One row was made of wedge-riveted flat rings, the next one of punched rings. Riveting by means of wedge-rivets was only introduced in the late Middle Ages.
Also in the Middle Ages chain skirts, chain mail etc. were made in this way, as it was not and still is not so time-consuming, as only every second ring has to be riveted.
The braiding is 4 in 1.
This type of arm protectors were used in the late Middle Ages and were mainly sewn or attached to clothing.
They are therefore well suited for the representation of the late Middle Ages.
