Monkey with a morter
Pewter badge which shows a monkey as a doctor which urinating in a mortar. In the interpretation of this emblem share the opinions. One interpretation is: Medieval medicine often contains urine and doctors were not particularly popular with the church because they saw it as a threat to the pilgrimage miracle. In addition, the monasteries operated hospital and doctors were often troublesome competition. As such, this badge is seen with this interpretation as church propaganda. Other interpretations argue just the opposite.
